Start with your email
Your email can be used to reset other accounts. Give it a password you do not use anywhere else. Avoid names, birthdays or information visible on a public profile.
Make each password different
Reusing a password means one compromised account can put others at risk. A password manager can generate and store different passwords. Choose a trusted option and understand its recovery process.
Store it safely
Avoid leaving passwords in public view or sending them in messages. Use a secure method that suits your circumstances, and keep access to it protected.
Add another layer
Switch on two-step verification where possible. Keep recovery information current. See current NCSC Cyber Aware guidance.
