Draft for governance review
This is a starting framework, not an adopted safeguarding policy. Named safeguarding responsibility, reporting routes, training, risk assessments and role-specific checks must be approved before support programmes begin.
Dignity and boundaries
Support should respect a person’s choices and circumstances. Volunteers must not take control of financial decisions, request credentials or create private arrangements outside agreed roles. Children and adults at risk need appropriate safeguards.
Responding to a concern
Listen without promising secrecy. Record only necessary information and share concerns through the approved safeguarding route once in place. Do not investigate suspected abuse yourself.
Immediate danger
If someone faces immediate danger, contact emergency services. For concerns needing specialist assistance, use appropriate statutory or specialist services rather than wait for a website enquiry response.
