Stop and get support

Stop further contact with the suspected scammer. Do not send additional money. Being deceived is not a reason to feel ashamed; speak to someone you trust if that would help.

If money may be affected

Contact your bank immediately using its official app or a trusted number. Explain what happened and ask what steps are available. Do not use contact details supplied by the suspected scammer.

Protect affected accounts

Contact relevant service providers through official channels. Use their recovery instructions if credentials were shared or an account was taken over. Avoid using a device you believe is still under someone else’s control for sensitive tasks.

Keep evidence and report

Keep messages, relevant addresses and transaction records. Report Fraud explains the current reporting route. Use the appropriate police service for your location. For immediate danger, contact emergency services.

Be careful of follow-up approaches

Someone promising to recover money for a fee may be attempting another scam. Verify any new contact independently. Viora Foundation cannot investigate a crime or guarantee recovery.
